Reviews for There Must Be A Better Way, the story of Al Thieme

The Amigo story is amazing, to read about a family business starting out and how it evolved and grew over the years is very inspiring. Hard to find a passionate family business still operating after 55 years and the original founder still goes to work every day and treats employees and customers like family.

This story starts with the Thieme family moving from Germany to Michigan to begin their new life starting over in a new country. Al was born in Bridgeport, Michigan and dropped out of school to become a plumber and start earning money for his family. When a family member was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis he promised to find a better way — the Amigo.

This business biography is inspiring to see the grit, passion and optimism Al has to build Amigo Mobility into the business it is today.

“There Must Be a Better Way” is an exceptional story of perseverance and discipline to never quit. The story of Amigo Mobility is a testament to the Thiemes, Amigo’s employees, and their commitment to manufacture a best-in-class product in Bridgeport, MI.

The book does an excellent job not only of telling Al’s story but the adversity their company faced with competing manufacturers, ever changing regulatory environments, and the highs and lows that come with running a successful family business.

A must read for anyone with a passion for business, entrepreneurism, or challenging the status quo.

A captivating tale of how one man’s vision revolutionized the mobility industry.

This book tells the story of how Al Thieme’s relentless pursuit to find a better way combined with the drive to help individuals with walking limitations regain their independence helped him overcome every obstacle thrown his way and made Amigo the company it is today.

From cover to cover, this book is a great insight on the challenges and struggles of an American entrepreneur. From humble beginnings to international success, this book highlights the challenges and opportunities that Al Thieme and his team endured and overcame throughout the history of Amigo, from beginning to present day.

A great book to read for anyone who has ever pondered the thought of becoming an entrepreneur or producing a product to sell to the public.

It can be read as a motivational book for small business owners, an example of situations one might expect while operating a business, or just for anyone who loves reading success stories.

This book is a testament of determination when most would have given up. Al Thieme has never been satisfied with mediocrity or the status quo.

His never giving up and curiosity driven demeanor is the requirement to build a business from the bottom up. He possesses the right work ethic, inquisitive energy, and pioneering spirit that early traditionalists brought to this country.

A happy, generous, kind character that rings out when he speaks of helping others that are physically challenged or not.

An entrepreneurship essence and American tenacity for good to prevail.

A people person and God-fearing man with purpose. Amigo goes forward because Al Thieme trusts and acknowledges the one and only true God. The one who saves, upholds, and sustains all things.

Reading this made me so proud of Al, he never gave up on his dream of helping his wife have more mobility in her life and finding a way for people to have more independence. My son works for Amigo and he loves how much they really care about their employees. Thanks Al and Beth for making such a great company that treats you like family!
