Longest canopy walk in the nation designed for all ages and abilities

In the fall of 2018, Dow Gardens opened Whiting Forest which is located in Midland, Michigan (about 35 minutes from Amigo’s corporate location).

Whiting Forest features 54 acres of woodlands, ponds, apple orchards, meadows and streams. Guests of all ages and abilities can immerse themselves in the forest on the nation’s longest canopy walk. The walk itself is 1,400 feet long and soars up to 40 feet above the ground.

People using Amigos, wheelchairs and canes are able to navigate the nation’s longest canopy walk with relative ease. Among other amenities, guests can take advantage of the visitor center, Whiting Forest Café, canopy walk, and the 1.5 miles of hard-paved pathways which are all ADA accessible. The canopy walk accommodates at least two wheelchairs across its width so there’s no need to worry about tight spaces.

We love that Whiting Forest was designed with everyone in mind and there are no restrictions on personal wheelchairs or automatic mobility devices.

They even have several manual wheelchairs available for guests to borrow if needed during their visit.

There are so many fun things to do in the Midland area and while you are in town, come visit our Amigo Mobility Center located at our headquarters here in Bridgeport.
