"It's Not Easy Being Green," -- or is it?

Friendly Wheels, Issue 3
April 2008

altKermit the Frog once proclaimed "being green" wasn't as easy as it seemed -- but today, "being green" isn't as hard as Kermit once thought. Earth Day is on April 22, and there are many small steps everyone can take to be more environmentally friendly.

At Amigo, we realize the importance to protect our environment, so we have made many changes to become as eco-friendly as possible in all aspects of our business. Just by being an Amigo owner, you are supporting a company that strives to be green through our environmental mission statement.

Here are a few tips to be more "green:"

  • Recycle your Amigo batteries by taking them to a local battery dealer, auto parts store or search earth911.org for more options.
  • Visit your local Farmer's Market on your Amigo. Buy fresh foods from local farmers to reduce transportation costs and support your local economy.
  • Teach your children or grandchildren about how to help the environment.
  • Stop buying plastic water bottles and use HDPE plastic or stainless steel reusable water bottles. Continue reading for more information on how to win an Amigo HDPE water bottle.
  • Use an Amigo Shopper to cruise the organic aisles of the grocery store. Most grocery stores have organic brands, or organic sections of their stores. The Environmental Working Group ranks fruits and vegetables from most contaminated by pesticides to least so you can decide what to buy organic.
  • The Amigo enclosure cover can be completely recycled. Since it is plastic, it can be placed in your own recycling bin. Any plastic part on the Amigo is completely recyclable.
  • Change a light bulb so it is a CFL.
  • Bring your own reusable shopping bag to the grocery store,
  • Raise awareness by forwarding this e-mail to a friend to encourage them to be more earth-friendly.
  • Purchase a carbon offset for as little as $12 in your own name, or as a "gift" for someone else
  • Go outside and appreciate nature. Go for a ride on your Amigo through the neighborhood or a local park.

alt
Earth Day was first celebrated in 1969 to raise awareness for environmental concerns. To celebrate Earth Day at Amigo, each of us are pledging to do one earth-friendly thing that day - even something as small as remembering to turn off the lights when you aren't using them! I would love to hear your ideas on how to be more green, so send me your idea and I will randomly choose five people who submitted ideas to win an Amigo reusable water bottle.
